The Falcons Can't Keep Up With The Camels

New London, CT- The Men's Basketball team played their second game in two days tonight as they took on the Connecticut College Camels at the Luce Field House. The Falcons jumped out to an early lead in the first half, but could not hang on as the Camels earned their fifth victory of the season, 71-49, while improving their overall record to 5-8. The third straight loss drops the Falcons record to 7-11.

In what was a low scoring affair, each team started out slowly scoring a combined 15 points in the first eight minutes of play as the Falcons led 9-6 with 12:41 remaining. The Camels then went on a 10-0 run over the next three minutes regaining the lead 16-9 capped by a pair of free throws from Ben Bagnoli. CC continued to put the pressure on and tried to create some distance from the Falcons going up by as many as seven points, but FC would not back down and a field goal from behind the arc from Ville Milan (Turku, Finland) brought his team back to within three at 23-20 with 3:42 left before halftime. An 8-2 run for the Camels to close out the half would put them up 31-22 heading into the locker room.

Coming out of the break it was more of the same with the Camels trying to put away the visitor but the Falcons kept responding, keeping it as close six points over the first eight minutes into the second half. After an Anthony Lewis (Lodi, CA) lay-up brought the score to 46-36, the Camels put the game out of reach with another 12-0 run putting the hosts up 57-36. The Falcons managed just 13 points in the last eight minutes of play and would fall 71-49. The Falcons had been red hot from the floor over their last six games, shooting 46%, but could not keep the momentum going against the Camels as they shot just 26.7% from the floor on 16 for 60 shooting.

Chris Sorapuru (Temecula, CA) led the way for his Falcons as he tallied 12 points and eight rebounds in the losing effort. Lewis and Giovanni Thompson (Kissimmee, FL) also registered double-digit efforts in the loss as they each scored 10 points, while combining for 10 rebounds. Kyle Snowden (Santa Cruz, CA) also had a strong game for the visitors as he contributed with eight points and eight rebounds. The Camels were led by David Labossiere and Dan Draffan as they each scored 12 points, with Draffan grabbing his fifth double-double of the season grabbing 10 boards.

The Falcons will look to snap their three-game losing skid when they head to Takoma Park, MD this weekend to participate in the East Coast Classic at Washington Adventist College. Fisher will kick off the tournament on Saturday when they face off against Voorhees College at 6pm.
