Men's Basketball: Falcons top Vermont Tech, 122-71

BROOKLINE, MASS. – The Fisher College Men's Basketball team picked up their first win of the season this afternoon behind a strong offensive performance as they defeated old Sunrise Conference foe Vermont Technical College, 122-71. The Falcons, bolstered by seven student-athletes in double figures for scoring, are now 1-5 on the year while the Knights fall to 1-8.

Senior Tanner Hoffman (Scottsdale, Ariz.) recorded his first career double-double in the Fisher blue-and-white as he finished with 10 points and a game-high 14 rebounds. Freshman Ke'Andre Penceal (Coram, N.Y.) also recorded a double-double, his first of the season, with a game-high 21 points and 11 rebounds off the bench for the Falcons. Joining Hoffman and Penceal in double-figures was junior Johnny Oritz (Boston, Mass.), who was 6-for-11 from the field and 5-for-8 beyond the arc finishing with 17 points. Senior Christopher Lennear (Sacramento, Calif.) totaled 14 points and Josiah Patton chipped in with 13 points. Freshman Giovanni De Le Fuente (Buckeye, Ariz.) was lights out from beyond the arc as he connected on 4-of-5 shots from 3-point land to finish with a career high 12 points. Junior Goody Marc (West Orange, N.J.) rounds out the double-digit scoring efforts with 10 points in the win.

Vermont Tech was paced by junior Marquise Moore (Tucson, Ariz.), who scored the team-high 19 points on 8-of-18 shooting from the floor. Senior Cyncere Watkins (Wickliffe, Ohio) made 11-of-14 free throws as he finished with 18 points on the afternoon with junior Dominick Presendieu (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) contributing 17 points in the setback.

Next up for the Falcons will be their third and final NCAA Division I opponent of the season as they travel to the University of Massachusetts-Lowell tomorrow afternoon for a 1pm tipoff. Vermont Tech, meanwhile, will host Great Bay Community College in a conference contest in Randolph, Vermont on Sunday afternoon at 3pm.
