Falcons Fall in OT to Becker

Becker College defeated Fisher College in overtime, 3-2 in non-conference men's soccer action Thursday afternoon at Alumni Field. The win moves the Hawks record to 1-8, while the Falcons fall to 2-6.

The Falcons got on the board in the eleventh minute when Matthew Miller (West Palm Beach, Fla.) fed freshman Jacob West (Epping, N.H.) for his third goal of the season.

The Hawks tied the game with 27:43 remaining in regulation when Ryan Van Doorn threaded a beautiful pass to Dylan de Hass (Newington, Conn.), who one-timed it into the left corner of the Falcons net.

The Falcons had a golden opportunity to take a 2-1 lead in the 77th minute when Jacob West broke free all alone with Becker defender Kyle Miller, but West's shot hit the right post. One minute later, Becker Michael Miklos (Brooklyn, N.Y.) broke free all alone, scoring into the bottom left corner of the Falcons net to give the Hawks a 2-1 advantage.

The Falcons tied the game with 8:40 remaining in regulation when Sergio Messa (Barcelona, Spain) rebounded a shot from Jacob West, tipping it past the Becker goalie Karl Cameron (Jacksonville, Fla.).

Becker scored the game winner just 13 seconds into overtime when Michael Miklos gathered a rebound from a William Tripp shot (Aberdeen, Md.), sliding it past the grasp of Fisher goalie Jose Villagran (Somerville, Mass.).

Becker goalie Karl Cameron made eight stops to earn his first collegiate victory, while Jose Villagran made two saves for the Falcons.

Both teams return to action on Saturday, September 27 at 1:00 p.m. Becker will begin their New England Collegiate Conference schedule at Wheelock College, while Fisher hosts the Culinary Institute of America.
