Falcons Men’s Soccer Downed by Bengals 8-1

Boston, MA – The Fisher College men's soccer team (5-8) were downed by the men of the University of Maine- Fort Kent (13-0) by a score of 8-1.

The Falcons were able to hold their own for the start of the game. However, in the ninth minute, the University of Main-Fort Kent (UMFK) scored their first goal to take a 1-0 lead. 

In the next 35 minutes, the Bengals were able to score three more goals, bringing their lead to 4-0. UMFK outshot Fisher College in the first half with 20 attempts, while Fisher only managed five.

Opening the second half, UMFK came out strong, scoring their first goal of the game in the 46th minute. Fifteen minutes later, UMFK brought the score to 6-0.

The Bengals could not keep the Falcons scoreless. In the 71st minute, Tyler Gahara (Hookset, NH) scored on a header from Kevin Charlot (Dorchester, MA). UMFK didn't take the Falcons goal lightly as they tacked on two more, bringing the game to its final score of 8-1. 

In the loss, the Falcons had 12 total shots and the Bengals managed 31 shots. Jose Villagran (Somerville, MA) took the loss in net, but was able to tally six saves with 13 shots on goal. 

The Falcons return to play on October 18 at home when they take on the Owls of the University of Maine-Presque Isle. Kick off will be at 3:00pm at Hormel Stadium in Medford, MA.
