Falcons Defend Nest Against Hawks

Medford, Mass. – The Fisher College men's soccer team pushed to 3-3-1 on the season after claiming a victory over Becker College (0-8) in an NAIA-NCAA matchup.

After opening kick, the Falcons took charge and pressured the Hawks' defense, but it took 29 minutes to put a point on the board. Tyler Gahara (Hookset, New Hampshire) placed the first ball in net on a pass from Jordan Markovich (Saugus, California) to put the Falcons up 1-0 in the first half. In the 35th minute, Junior DePina (Boston) booted a pass from Kevin Ochoa (Everett, Massachusetts) past the Hawks' goalkeeper to give the Falcons a 2-0 lead heading into half-time.

Fisher College started with possession in the second half, pressuring the Hawks once again. Seconds after hitting the 48th minutes, Gahara netted his second goal of the game, putting the Falcons up 3-0. Not even a minute later, Becker's William Tripp answered back to cut the Falcon lead to 3-1.

The Falcons' offense didn't settle down as Gary Maldonado (Lawrence, Massachusetts) set up Gahara to score his third goal of the game, putting Fisher up 4-1. After almost 20 minutes of back and forth play, Tom Pugliese (Saugus, California) recorded the final goal for the Falcons to earn the team a 5-1 victory.

Eliseu DiPena (Boston) earned the win in the net for the Falcons, only allowing one goal and making 10 saves. Benjamin Cadmin took the loss for Becker despite making nine saves.
