Bengals Attack the Falcons; 6-0

Fort Kent, Maine--The University of Maine at Fort Kent soccer teams swept Fisher College on Saturday afternoon as part of homecoming weekend at UMFK. The women won 7-0 and the men won by a 6-0 score.

In the women's game, UMFK scored two goals in the first five minutes and five goals in the opening 15 minutes of the match and never looked back. This match was the final game for Coach Lucas Levesque as Bengals head coach. Levesque announced earlier this week that he would resign as head coach and assistant athletics director.

Sabrina Brooks started the scoring off taking a pass from superstar Sherifatu Sumaila. Sumaila would then score the next two off passes from Tolu Oyeniyi and Kendra Freund.

Gabi Riccardi-Shortt and Oyeniyi added first half goals.

Oyeniyi and Sumaila both scored in the second half to complete the scoring for UMFK.

Keepers Valentina Green and Samoya Brooks combined in goal for the win.

The men's game was competitive in the first half but the Bengals scored three quick goals to begin the second half to break the game wide open.

Miguel Barnaby scored a beautiful goal of a back heel 12 minutes into the game after a cross from Shaun Genus hit the post. Barnaby was there for the tap in. Stefan Petricevic added the second goal after crossing a couple of defenders and drilled it in the back of the net.

James Blanchet then added three goals for his first career hat-trick all within the first 12 minutes of the half. Shawn Genus added a goal in the second half.

Keeper Butch Forbes and Glenroy Osbourne pitched a shutout for the Bengals.

The Falcons return to action tomorrow against the University of Maine at Presque Isle at 3:00 p.m.
