Falcons Earn First Victory Over Becker 3-2

Medford, Mass. – The Fisher College men's soccer team earned their first victory of the season with a 3-2 win over Becker College.  The Falcons now are 1-5 on the season while the Hawks drop to 1-6 on their season.

Fisher went in to the game with their heads held high although their last five games haven't been on the brighter side of the track.  Senior midfielder Matthew Miller scored the first goal of the game after Becker committed a foul just outside of the box.  The ball was placed and Miller took the free kick with the ball landing in the bottom right corner of the net to put Fisher up 1-0.

Miller added to the Falcons lead in the 31st minute after Kervens Surpris took a shot on goal, but it was deflected off the goalie.  After the deflection, Miller stepped to the ball and put it in the net to give the Falcons a 2-0 lead.

Minutes later, the Hawks put a ball past the Falcons goalie to cut the lead to 2-1.  Time expired in the first half with Fisher leading 2-1.

Becker opened the second half on top of the Falcons.  In the 58th minute, the Hawks knotted the game at 2-2.

The Surpris, Miller duo struck again in the 60th minute with a cross and a shot to give the Falcons a 3-2 lead.

Fisher may have won the game, but Becker outshot the Falcons 25-24.  The Hawks failed to capitalize on corner kicks as they earned 6 compared to Fishers 4.

Freshman goalkeeper Felipe Barandiaran earned his first victory in net for the Falcons.  Barandiaran made 8 saves with 6 coming in the first half.  Sam Majewski took the loss in net for Becker although making 9 saves.

The Falcons have some time off before returning to the pitch against the College of Saint Joseph's of Vermont on Sunday, September 30 at 3:00 p.m.
