Falcons Hold Fighting Knights For 2-1 Victory

Medford, Mass. -- Fisher College men's soccer played host to the College of Saint Joseph's in Vermont Saturday, September 30 for a 3:00 matchup on a rainy, fall day.  The Falcons held on for a 2-1 victory to improve their record to 2-5 on the short season while the Fighting Saints fall to 4-3 on the season.

With barely 5 minutes played in the game, freshman Ilias Beriane took a pass from junior defender Andrew Leveillee to the back of the net to put the Falcons up 1-0.  After the quick goal, both teams were silent for the remaining of the period.

Fisher held onto a 1-0 lead heading into half-time outshooting the Fighting Saints 8-7 in the half.

Just a short time into the second half, Beriane struck again, this time with an assist to senior Robert Milne to give the Falcons a 2-0 lead in the 55th minute.

College of Saint Joseph's retaliated in the 80th minute with a goal to cut the Falcons lead in half, 2-1.  Fisher held on for the remaining 10 minutes to close out the game with a 2-1 victory.

Freshman Felipe Barandiaran took the victory in net for the Falcons making 8 saves with 9 shots on goal.  Maxwell Singh earned the loss for the Fighting Saints making 6 saves with 8 shots on goal.   The Falcons had a total of 15 shots while CSJ had 14.

The Falcons return to action tomorrow, Sunday, October 1 at 12;00 p.m. versus the University of Maine at Presque Isle at Medford High School.
