Falcons Fall to Bates 5-0

Medford, Mass. – The Fisher College men's soccer team drops to 4-8-1 after taking a 5-0 loss to Bates College who improve to 6-5-2 on their season.  The two teams met Wednesday evening during Fisher's senior and fan appreciation day.

Fisher opted to take the first touch and 11 seconds into the game took the first shot, but Bates' defenders blocked it.  The Bobcats were able to turn the tables and take control of the game.  The visitors were on a run to potentially score, but an offside whistle was blown, helping the Falcons defense out.

In the 7th minute, Bates was able to net a goal taking a 1-0 lead over the Falcons.  Fisher continued to try to put a goal on the board, but the Bobcats struck again in the 12th minute to go up 2-0 over the Falcons. 

Fisher was able to hold Bates to 2-0 for the remainder of the half, heading into the half-time break.

After the break, Bates was on their A-game as they scored within the first minute of play to take a 3-0 lead over the Falcons.  Not even 10 minutes late, the Bobcats scored again to take a 4-0 lead over the Falcons.  In the 73rd minute, Bates added one more goal to secure their 5-0 victory.

Freshman goalkeeper Felipe Barandiaran took the loss in net for the Falcons playing for 69:36 and making 9 saves.  Christopher Garcia came in to close out the game for the Falcons with 20:24 played and making 3 saves.  Nathaniel Reed and Owen Lindenfeldar earned the combined shutout in net for Bates.

The Falcons will have a few days off to recover after back-to-back games before they head to Delhi, N.Y. to take on SUNY Delhi on Saturday, October 21.
