Men’s Soccer Wraps up 2017 Season

Boston, Mass. – The Fisher College men's soccer team wrapped up their 2017 season after falling to SUNY Delhi 4-0 in the NIAC semi-final.  The Falcons went 4-10-1 on the season while participating in both the Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) and the Northeast Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (NIAC). 

The Falcons earned their first victory over Becker College 3-2 midway through September.  Fisher took five losses to open the season against schools like Emerson, University of Maine Fort Kent, and Thomas.  After their first victory, Fisher went on a win streak with a 2-1 win over College of Saint Joseph, a 4-1 win over the University of Maine Presque Isle, and a 4-2 victory University of Maine Machias. 

The Falcons win streak was halted with a 3-1 loss to Dean College.  The Falcons struggled for the remainder of the season with injuries engulfed the team.

Before playing in the NIAC semi-final game against SUNY Delhi on November 4, the Falcons had a couple of weeks off and some time for injuries to heal.  Fisher took a 4-0 loss in the matchup with the Broncos, concluding their season. 

Fisher will graduate three impact seniors after this season.  Henry Maldonado played a key role on the Falcons defense the last four years playing in 40 games starting 22.  As a defender, he scored one goal and tallied one assist while dawning the blue and white.   Matthew Miller was a three-year Falcon who played in 46 games scoring 7 goals and 15 assists for a total of 29 points.  Lastly, Robert Milne who played in 57 contests scoring 15 goals and 13 assists.

The 2018 version of the Falcons will look to build off the 2017 team returning a core group.  The Falcons will again participate in the A.I.I. and the NIAC with hopes of adding additional teams.
