Falcons Bucked by Broncos on Senior Day

Medford, MA- The Fisher Falcons (3-9-2) took on the SUNY Delhi Bronco's (12-2) after a day postponement as a result of the weather. The Falcons looked to cap of their regular season with a strong showing against the Broncos. Along with this final regular season game action, Fisher also honored five of their seniors before the start of the game. Recognized at the start of the afternoon for their lasting impact to Fisher College were Eliseu DiPena (Dorchester, MA), Carlos Acevedo (Everett, MA), Aram Kaya (Waltham, MA), Andrew Leveillee (Coventry, RI) and David Serrano (Val Verde, CA).

The Broncos came out on fire, netting two goals within the first 12 minutes of the match to put the Falcons on the defensive early. Fisher looked to bounce back but with the ball in the Bronco's defensive end but missed a few opportunities from Andrew Leveillee and Vishal Vaswani. Falcon's goalkeeper, Eliseu DiPena, kept them in the match after facing a total of 13 shots in the first half. With strong defensive stand in the back half of the first half by Leveillee, Serrano and DiPena, Fisher was able to enter the half only trailing 2-0.

The start of the second half brought a fair amount of opportunities to both sides with each team venturing deep into their offensive ends. The Broncos were finally able to find a gap in the defense and capitalized on this opportunity in the 63rd minute of the match, when Ryan Hickey finessed his way past the Falcons defense and scored the third goal of the game. Six minutes later, Hickey set up Juan Velez for a clear shot that he placed in the corner of the net just out of reach of DiPena. The Falcons offense was kept to a minimum in the second half, but that did not stop freshman Trevor Moschiano and Rolando Pinero, with each having an opportunity that was denied by Broncos goalkeeper, Gabriel Rodrigues. Eliseu DiPena had a busy night in net facing a total of 17 shots and only allowing four goals in 90 minutes of action.

The Falcons wrapped up their regular season tonight, but will travel to Poultney, VT on Saturday to compete in the NIAC Championship versus Green Mountain College.
