Falcons open season with loss against Siena Heights

Clermont, Fla. – The Falcons softball team started off the 2017 season with a loss to Siena Heights University by a score of 21-0 in the first game of their annual spring trip in Florida.

Siena Heights started off the game very aggressive, as they took a quick 2-0 lead over the Falcons in the first inning. The Saints managed to get on the board with a sacrifice fly and scoring on a wild pitch by Falcons starter, Taylor Rowley.

Falcon's short stop Morgan Selmi started off the home half of the inning reaching first after being hit by a pitch. After a successful sacrifice bunt by Tatum Mahoney and a passed ball, Selmi moved to third with one out.  Kristina Brown then hit a hard line drive forcing a double play to end the inning.

Siena Heights' bats started to heat up as they scored 6 runs in the first three innings and followed up the next two innings by scoring a total of 13 runs bringing them to 21-0 over the Falcons.

Fisher also struggled hitting the dominant pitching of Siena Heights, as they were held without a hit during the game which ended after 5 innings. Rowley took the loss for the Falcons after pitching three and two thirds of an inning.

The Falcons next game will be against NAIA #2 Saint Xavier University later on Sunday, March 5.
