Falcons Unsuccessful in First Game of Day 2

Clermont, FL – The Fisher College Falcons dropped a close 7-2 game to Mt. Vernon Nazerene in their second day of action in Florida. The team record drops to 0-3 on the season.

 

Nazarene jumped off to an early 1-0 lead in the first inning by scoring on a passed ball. Junior Mikayla Zimmerman bounced back after the passed ball by getting the next batter to fly out to right field ending the inning.

 

Senior Morgan Selmi banged a single to left field to begin the bottom half of the first inning. Selmi then advanced all the way to third after Taylor Rowley's bunt single. Kristina Brown then got the team's third consecutive hit by slashing a double to right center field scoring Selmi.

 

The game continued to go back and forth in the next inning as the teams both scored another run. After Nazarene added a run to the board in the top half of the second, Selmi recorded her second hit in as many innings with a single to left center scoring Corrie Edstrom tying the game at 2 apiece after two.

 

The Falcons surrendered five runs to Nazarene in the third inning and could not catch up from there. Selmi led the team with two hits on the day, while Rowley, Brown, Edstrom, and Camila Da Silva added a hit of their own.

 

The Falcons are set to face Bellevue University in their second game Monday afternoon.
