Fifth Inning Rally Ends in 16-3 Loss for the Falcons

Clermont, FL – The Fisher College Falcons kept the game close early, but Grace College (Ind.) proved to be too much taking a 16-3 victory from Fisher. With this loss, the Falcons are now 0-9 on the season.

In the first inning, each team pushed a run across knotting the game 1-1.  Fisher senior Morgan Selmi led off the Fisher half of the inning with a single to left field. Selmi later then scored on a hard hit double to left by junior Becky Collison.

Grace (Ind.) added one run in the third inning and then rallied in the fourth inning adding four more runs bringing their lead to 6-1.

As Fisher came to bat in the bottom of the fourth inning, Collison and Mikayla Zimmerman led off with back to back singles. Freshman Corrie Edstrom followed with a clutch base hit to left field scoring Collison on the play.

The Falcons seemed to be back in the game until things turned in the top half of the fifth. Fisher surrendered ten runs to the Lancers, which only gave the Falcons one more shot at redemption.

Fisher would go on to add another run in the fifth inning on another run-scoring single by Edstrom. Edstrom and Collison led the Falcons, who combined to go 5-for-6, two runs batted in, and two runs scored.

Zimmerman would take the loss for the Falcons in their first game of the day in the circle.

The Falcons look to rebound in the last game of their Florida trip against Trinity Christian at 8:30 p.m.
