Saint Joseph's College Defeats Fisher in Opening Round of Tip Off Classic

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. - Heather Framski (Prospect, Conn.) made eight of nine shots and scored 16 points in 11 minutes of action and Katherine Lynch (Springfield, Mass.) added 12 points off the bench as Saint Joseph College defeated Fisher, 77-38 Friday in the first round of the 14th Annual SJC Tip Off Classic.

Saint Joseph, the two-time defending tournament champion, moved on to  play Albright, of Reading Pa., in Saturday's 3 p.m. championship game. Albright defeated Mitchell, 72-41 in Friday's other game. Fisher will play Mitchell in Sunday's 1 p.m. consolation game.

Saint Joseph (1-1) trailed only once, at 3-2 and for only 49 seconds out of the 40 minutes. Framski scored 10 points in the first 6:30 to help Saint Joseph to a 16-6 lead. The Blue Jays led 20-11 and held Fisher (0-5) scoreless over the final 8:04 of the half to lead 37-11 at halftime.

In the second half, Saint Joseph extended its run to 25-0, its lead to 45-11 and held Fisher scoreless for 12:10 total.

Twelve players scored for Saint Joseph and all 16 players on the roster had at least one rebound. Lindsay Feducia scored eight points for the Blue Jays and Brianna Ferraro and Megan Roux had seven apiece. Devon Diliberto (Waterbury, Conn.) had a team-high five assists.

Javana Bernard (Waterbury, Conn.) scored a team-high 12 points for Fisher.
