It only took a minute for the Houghton College Highlanders to prove they were too much for the Fisher Falcons during Saturday's 92-92 win. The Highlanders scored 8 points in the first minute and led by 18 just six minutes in as the Falcons shooting woes proved costly.
Kristen Moore led the Highlanders with 17 points, 9 rebounds, and 7 assists. In 20 minutes of work, Moore paced the Highlanders offense attack and just missed out on a triple-double. Michelle Persons, Jennifer Hudson, and Alica Markefka each added 10 points and 4 rebounds while Beth Lord contributed 8 points and 10 rebounds.
The Falcons were out rebounded 64- 28 on the afternoon.
Fisher was led by sophomore Javanna Bernard's 18 points. The Waterbury, CT native also pulled down 4 rebounds, handed out 2 assists and had 5 steals. Junior Pamala Bounkehoune was the only over Falcons in double figures with 11 points, 2 rebounds, and 3 assists.
The visitors shot 47% (39-83) while the Falcons shot 27% (16-60).
Fisher will return to action Sunday afternoon when they take on former Sunrise Conference foe College of St. Joseph's (VT). Tip-off is scheduled for noon.
