Fisher drops a heartbreaker, falls 70-61

Mookie Kennedy and College of St. Joseph's (VT) did just enough to earn a hard fought non-conference victory over Fisher Sunday afternoon in Lynn, MA.  Kennedy had 28 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists for the Saints as they edged Fisher 70-61. 

Fisher was only down 3 at half, 39-36 but shot 18 percent in the second half and were outscored 21-25 in the 2nd 20 minutes.  Fisher, who played with a short bench and foul trouble throughout, had a number of impressive performances.

Javanna Bernard finished with 23 points, 13 in the 2nd half.  She also had 5 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocks. Pamala Bounkehoune added 21 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. 

Neither team shot the ball well, the Saints shooting 30 percent and Fisher a little worse at 28 percent. Each team had a 20 twenty rebound effort.  Fisher's Makenzi Peeler had 20 rebounds while St. Joseph's Taisha Lima had an impressive 23 rebounds, 16 in the 1st half.  The Falcons Talia Hyatt had 17 rebounds.

Fisher drops to 0-16 on the season and will travel to Fitchburg St. on Wednesday. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 pm.
