Gators Fly Past Fisher 82-60

CHESTNUT HILL, MA – Four different Pine Manor players scored in double-figures, led by 18 points from senior Jessica Gilmore (Dorchester, MA), as the Gators defeated visiting Fisher College, 82-60, on Monday evening at Brunelli Court at Pine Manor Gymnasium.

Pine Manor raced out to a 28-10 advantage, following a lay-up by senior Paulette Wright (Baltimore, MD) that capped off an 8-0 run with 10:18 remaining in the opening half. Wright finished the game with 13 points, as she was also joined by sophomore Ashley Carusone (Nashua, NH), 11 points, and junior Ashley Reeves (Roxbury, MA), 10 points, in double figures. Pine Manor senior Therline Dumeran (Cambridge, MA) finished a point shy of a double-double, scoring nine while also collecting a team-high 14 rebounds.

With the Gators leading by 18, Fisher went on a run to cut the deficit to 8 with 6:19 remaining in the first half, following a lay-up by senior Talia Hyatt (Dorchester, MA). Hyatt finished the game with 8 points and 10 rebounds for the Lady Falcons. Fisher sophomore Javana Bernard (Waterbury, CT) led all players with 30 points, also collecting a double-double with 11 rebounds. She was joined in double-figures by senior Makenzi Peeler (Boston, MA) who scored 14 for the Lady Falcons.

Fisher would get no closer than the eight point deficit as Pine Manor pushed the lead back to 21, at 46-25, just before the half thanks to lay-up by Gilmore. In the second-half, the Gators would continue to pull away, leading by as many as 32 points before finishing with an 82-60 victory.

Still in search of its first win of the 2011-12 season, Fisher College will host Carlow on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. Pine Manor will now look to Thursday, as the Gators will host Mount Ida in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) contest at 5:00 p.m.
