Bernard passes 1000 points for her career

With a three pointer from to the top of the arc, Javana Bernard (Waterbury, CT) became the 2nd player in school history to score 1000 points for the Lady Falcons.  Her sixth point of the night tied the game at 12 a piece but the Lady Falcons eventually fell to the visiting Maine – Presque Isle, 56-44.

Bernard joined current assistant coach Tiffany Beckman as on the only Lady Falcons to eclipse 1000 points despite only being a junior.  Through her 59 career games, Javana has scored 1016 total points, an average of 17.2 points per game.

The Lady Falcons started the game off well, trading baskets with the visitors and eventually jumped out to a six point lead early in the first half.

Bernard and senior Porsha Grayson (Merced, CA) led the offensive output from the host. Bernard finished with a game high 22 points while Grayson added 14 of her own.

The game was tied at 26 at the break but cold shooting in the second half saw the game slip away.  Bernard and Grayson also added seven and six rebounds, respectively.

UMPI was paced by Amanda Hothem's 20 points.  Doni Yendriga had the lone double-double of the night, finished with 11 points and 10 rebounds.  Taylor Cochran also contributed 8 points and 12 rebounds in the victory.
