Lady Falcons rally from early deficit to defeat Mount Ida, 72-69

NEWTON, Mass. –Fisher found itself down early, but after a rally and a back and forth game in the second half, the Lady Falcons defeated Mount Ida in a Thursday night game at Mount Ida College Athletic Center.  With this win the Lady Falcons improve to 3-5 while Mount Ida falls to 2-6.

Fisher's  Porsha Grayson (Senior/ Merced, Calif) was able to score the game winning 3-point shot with less than 10 second left in the game off of a pass from fellow senior Javana Bernard (Waterbury, Conn.). Grayson's shot helped the Lady Falcons go from 2 points down to taking command of the game. Grayson was able to led all scorers with 24 points, while Bernard added in 21 points to go along with a game-high eight assists and six steals. Grayson also added three steals for the Falcons.

Angelique Martinez scored 16 points and grabbed a game-high 18 rebounds for Mount Ida while Jenn Rafuse added in eight points to go along with 14 rebounds and seven assists.

The Lady Falcons saw themselves down 7-0 to start the game, as well as much as 11 in the first half. Fisher trailed 31-26 at halftime. The shooting percentage split between the two halves was large for Fisher as they shot 21% in the first half compared to almost 49% in the second half. The Lady Falcons were able to find a way to win even with shooting only 26% from behind the three point line.

The second half saw each team exchanging baskets throughout the half with either team not have more than a five point lead. Fisher didn't take their first lead of the game until six minutes into the second half.

Fisher's next game is at home on Sunday December 8th against University of Maine-Presque Isle at noon.
