Pine Manor Overpowers Fisher

Boston, MA --- The Pine Manor College Gators cruised past the Fisher College Falcons on their way to a 91-61 non-conference victory Tuesday night at Fectau-Leary gymnasium.

The Lady Falcons had four players score in double figures, led by Javana Bernard's 21 points on 8 of 34 shooting.  Fellow senior Porsha Grayson added 13 points and 11 rebounds while sophomore Christine Briggs tallied 12 points and 10 rebounds.  Freshman Alexis Akridge contributed 11 points and six rebounds.

The Gators of Pine Manor College proved to be too much for the Falcons, who were overwhelmed by PMC athleticism and pace of play. The Gators were led by Alexis Lee, whose 27 points earned Pine Manor their 19th victory of the season.

PMC received strong efforts from Ari DeJesus (17 points, 19 rebounds) and Jayva Johnson (14 points, 10 rebounds).  Nine different Gators scored points on a night were the Lady Falcons surrendered a season high 91 points.

Tonight's game also marked the final home game for seniors Javanna Bernard and Porsha Grayson. With one game remaining in Grayson's senior season, the Merced, CA native has accumulated 717 points, 105 assists, 346 rebounds, and 112 steals. Grayson currently ranks 12th in games played, 5th in career points, 10th in rebounds, and 6th in both steals and assists.

Grayson earned 2nd team all A.I.I honors last season after finishing 19th in the NAIA in points per game with 17.6. She currently ranks in the top 50 in steals per game and defensive rebounds per game for the 2nd consecutive season. Porsha Grayson will be graduating Fisher with a degree in Criminal Justice.

Javana Bernard will depart Beacon Street with nearly every Fisher College record. In her four year career at Fisher, Javana has scored 1,801 points, the most in Fisher College history. Javana is also the all-time leader in assists with 193, as well as ranks 7th in rebounds with 404, and 2nd in steals with 246.

Bernard has twice been named to the 2nd team all-conference, the 1st as a freshman during the 2010-2011 season and then again as a sophomore in the 2011-2012 campaign.

Javana was the team MVP for 2011-2012 season, as well as the co-MVP of the team for 2012-2013 season. In 2013 Bernard finished the season ranked 4th in NAIA Division II in Points per Game with 20.6.  She currently ranks 2nd in NAIA Division II in Steals per Game (3.762), 7th in total steals with 79, and 11th in Points per Game with 19.8. The Waterbury, Connecticut native will graduate Fisher with a degree in Accounting.

The Lady Falcons close out the 2013-2014 season on Wednesday, February 19th when they travel to Framingham State University for a 6pm tip-off
