Falcons Fall to Visting St. Joseph's College Monks

BOSTON – The visiting Monks of St. Joseph's College eased to victory in a NAIA-NCAA crossover matchup with the Fisher College Falcons Saturday afternoon at Fectau-Leary Gymnasium in Lynn, Massachusetts.  The 83-40 win improves St. Joseph's to 8-2 on the season while the Falcons fall to 2-5.

St. Joseph's Kelsi McNamara had a game-high 14 points on 5-of-12 shooting while Fisher's Murphy Carroll had a team high 13 points for the hosts.  St. Joseph's had four different scorers in double-figures.  Norma Waggett (13 points), Morgan Cahill (12 points) and Emily Benway (10 points) helped pace the Monks to a season-high in points.

Fisher's Aliyannah McIntosh was the only over Falcon in double-figures with 10 points.

After a delay pushed the tip-off close to 1:00PM rather than the scheduled 12:00PM, the Monk's came out firing, scoring 45 first half points on 17-of-37 (45.9%) shooting.  Fisher managed just 29 points over the first two quarters on 9-for-33 (27.3%) shooting.

The shooting woes continued for the hosts in the third and fourth quarters as they scored just five and six points respectively. St. Joseph's was just 32.7% (16-of-49) from the field in the last two minutes but managed 28 points in its efforts.

St. Joseph's held a massive 70-38 rebounding advantage including a game-high 14 from Morgan Cahill. 17 different Monks grabbed at least one rebound with 14 different players added points.

Fisher also had just five assists to St. Joseph's 21 while SJC forced 21 Fisher turnovers compared to just 17 from the Monks.

St. Joseph's College will return to action following the holiday break when they travel to Regis College for a 2:00PM tip-off. The Falcons are back on the court on Saturday December 19th when they travel to Southern New Hampshire University.  This contest is scheduled to begin at 5:00PM.
