Second half efforts not enough for women’s basketball

Lynn, Mass. – The Fisher College women's basketball team falls to 6-14 on the season after their tough 89-58 loss to Pine Manor College Thursday evening.  The Gators improve to 10-12 on the season with the victory.

Three Falcons reached double-digit scoring including Madison Carroll (Methuen, Mass.) with a team high 13 points.  Sasha Coombs (Windsor, Conn.) added 11 points before reaching her foul limit on the floor, while NaKeeya Goodman Boddie-Smith (Fitchburg, Mass.) added another 10 points for the Falcons. Other offensive contributors were Murphy Carroll (Methuen, Mass.) and Chrissy Briggs (Rumford, Maine) both adding nine points. 

The Falcons stayed within arm's reach in the first half trailing 39-32 before the Gators outscored the Falcons 50-26 in the second half to seal the victory.  Fisher finished shooting 22-of-80 (27.5%) in the paint, 5-of-18 (27.8%) from behind the arc, and 9-of-15 (60.0%) from the free-throw line.

Fisher College will return to action Saturday, January 13 as they travel to the University of Maine at Fort Kent for a 1:00 p.m. tip-off.  The Falcons will then head over to Presque Isle, Maine where they will then take on the Owls on Sunday afternoon.  Pine Manor College will return to action on Saturday, January 13 when they travel to New York to take on the College of New Rochelle.
