Falcons start second semester with victory

Randolph Center, Vt. -- The women's basketball team took the court for the first time since returning to campus at the Vermont Tech. Classic against SUNY Canton on Tuesday, January 10.  The Falcons took a 60-55 victory from the Kangaroos to improve to 4-7 on the season while SUNY Canton falls to 2-12 on the season. 

The Falcons took a quick 8-0 lead before the Kangaroos were able to sink a jump shot to put two points on the board, 8-2 with 7:33 left in the first quarter.  SUNY added on four more points closing the gap to 2-points before the Falcons went on a 7-point run to close out the first quarter with the Falcons up 15-11.

Murphy Carroll opened up the second quarter with a 3-pointer to put Fisher up 18-11.  Fisher finished the second quarter with a 33-25 lead over SUNY. 

Sophomore Aliyanah McIntosh paved the way for the Falcons scoring 11 points and grabbing 4 rebounds in the first half.  Junior Murphy Carroll followed with 9-points in the half.

The third quarter was a SUNY Canton quarter with the Kangaroos outscoring the Falcons 13-10, but it wasn't enough to quite catch the Falcons just yet.  The Falcons held on to a 6-point lead at the end of the 3rd for a 43-38 lead. 

The fourth quarter was an even match with both teams scoring 17-points to close out the game, but with their overall shooting percentage of 37.3% versus 33.3%, the Falcons were able to earn the 60-55 victory.

McIntosh finished the game with 18 points and 9 rebounds to lead the Falcons.  Twins, Madison Carroll and Murphy Carroll were other key Falcons with 13 and 12 points, respectively.

The Falcons will take on host Vermont Technical College on Wednesday, January 11 at 5:00 p.m. for the final game of the Vermont Tech. Classic in Randolph Center, Vermont.
