First quarter dominance leads to Falcon victory

LYNN, MASS. – A 21-8 first quarter score in favor of the Falcons, led to the 74-57 Fisher College victory over SUNY Delhi Tuesday evening in an NAIA-USCAA match-up.  The Broncos drop to 5-12 on the season while the Falcons improve to 7-8. 

Aliyanah McIntosh opened up the scoring for the Falcons netting a jump shot before Madsion Carroll added another shot to take a quick 4-0 lead.  The Falcons led by Madison Carroll went on a 17-point run to close out the first quarter with a 21-8 lead.   

After a quick one-minute break, the Broncos came out hot and evenly matched the Falcons in the second quarter with both teams scoring 17-points.  SUNY Delhi shot 33.3% inside the paint compared to the Fisher 30.0% in the second quarter.  The Falcons held a 38-25 lead at halftime.

The final two quarters were nail-biters with the Falcons only putting up two points more than the Broncos.  The Falcons added 36 points in the second half while SUNY Delhi added 34.  Fisher ran down the clock during the last possession of the game to finalize the score at 74-59 in favor of the Falcons.

McIntosh led the way for the Falcons with 24 points and grabbing 12 rebounds for a double-double.  Madison Carroll added 19 points for the Falcons in their victory.  Robinson and Murphy Carroll added 9 points apiece for Fisher.

Fisher College will return to action on Thursday, January 19 as they play host to the College of Saint Joseph in Vermont at 5:00 p.m. in the Fecteau-Leary Gymnasium in Lynn, Mass.  SUNY Delhi will also hit the court at 5:00 on Thursday when they head to Paul Smith's College.
