Falcons take victory in overtime

LYNN, Mass. -- The Fisher College women's basketball team pushed their season record over .500 with a 65-63 victory over the University of Maine- Fort Kent on Saturday afternoon.  The victory improved the Falcons record to 9-8 while the Bengals dropped to 14-6 on the season.

Freshman Skylar Robinson led the Falcons with a game-high 25 points in the victory.  Junior Madison Carroll started the game off scoring five points for the Falcons to give the team a 5-0 lead.  UMFK came right back and took a 6-5 lead over the Falcons before taking a 12-7 lead.  The Bengals increased their lead to 16-7 at the end of the first quarter.

The Falcons took a turn around in the second quarter to get within three points right at the break.  The Bengals only scored 10 points in the quarter to the Falcons 16 points for a 26-23 lead at the break.  

Aliyanah McInstosh hit a layup at the end of the 3rd quarter to close the scoring game to two, 41-39.  Chrissy Briggs led the Falcons in the quarter with five points including a three pointer and a jump shot.  

With their dominance in the second quarter and a 17-15 lead in the fourth quarter, the Falcons tied up the game at 56 to head into overtime.  McIntosh, Briggs, and Robinson were responsible for all nine points in overtime to give the Falcons the 65-63 victory.

Madison Carroll aside from Robinson led the way for the Falcons scoring 14 points and grabbing seven rebounds.  Briggs scored the only double-double for the Falcons with 12 points and 13 rebounds.  McIntosh finished the game with 7 points and 11 rebounds.

The Falcons have a day off before returning to action on Monday evening in the Fecteau-Leary Gymnasium in Lynn, Mass. when they host Washington Adventist University at 5:00 p.m.
