LYNN, MASS -- The Fisher College women's basketball team recognized three seniors before Wenesday night's matchup against Vermont Technical College (VTC). The Falcons improved to 11-13 on the season when they stole a 69-44 victory away from the Knights.
The game got off to a slow start after Fisher won the tip, but it wasn't until the 6:55 mark in the 1st quarter that Murphy Carroll hit a 3-point shot to put the Falcons on the board, 3-0. VTC took a 4-3 lead over the Falcons, but that would be the only time they have a lead in the game.
The Falcons then went on a 15-0 to take a 19-4 lead over VTC. The Knights hit a free throw to add a point with :22 seconds on the clock, but the 1st quarter expired with the score 19-5 in Fisher's favor.
VTC came out in the 2nd quarter and gave the Falcons a run for their money. The Knights outscored the Falcons 17-14 in the quarter, but Fisher was able to hold the lead 33-22 at halftime.
Fisher halted the Knights in the second half of the game outscoring them 36-22 for a final score of 69-44. In their first matchup this season, the Falcons only allowed VTC to score 22 total points.
Seniors Christine Briggs (4 points, 8 rebounds), Victoria Park (2 points, 2 rebounds), and Camila Da Silva (2 points, 2 rebounds) all in their final home game contributed to the victory. Junior Murphy Carroll dominated for the Falcons scoring 37 points and grabbing 2 boards.
The Falcons were scheduled to travel to Pine Manor College on Thursday, February 9, but due to the impending weather, the game was pushed to Friday, February 10.
