Vikings Dominate Falcons 73-52

Lynn, Mass – The Fisher College women's basketball team dropped to 9-7 on the season after falling to Villa Maria College Friday evening.  Villa Maria improves to 12-3 after their 73-52 victory over the Falcons.

Villa Maria took control of the game from the tip taking a 12-0 lead over the Falcons.  Choon-Hee Chae put Fisher on the board with 3:30 left in the first quarter, netting a 3-pointer to cut the Vikings lead to 12-3.  In the last two minutes of the first quarter, the Falcons went on an 8-0 run to close out the quarter down 19-11.

Fisher entered the second quarter on fire going on another 8-0 run to tie the game at 19-19.  Chae hit another three tp put the Falcons on top for the first time in the game 22-19.  Madison Carroll netted a three of her own to increase the Falcons lead to 25-19 with 4:52 left in the second quarter.  Villa Maria went on a 7-point run to put the Vikings up, 26-25.  Meghan Case hit the last shot of the quarter giving the Falcons the go ahead, 27-26, heading into the halftime break.

Villa Maria secured their victory in the second half of the game only allowing Fisher to score 25 points to their 47 points.  The Vikings took the 73-52 victory from the Falcons in their second matchup of the season. 

Chae led the Falcons with 19 points, of which fifteen points were obtained from behind the arc, and 6 rebounds.  Madison Carroll followed with 11 points and 4 rebounds while twin sister Murphy added 9 points of her own.

Shaquana Owens recorded a triple-double for the Vikings netting 18 points, grabbing 12 rebounds, and adding 11 assists.  Leah McQuiller (16 points, 6 rebounds), Bianca Brown (12 points, 7 rebounds), and Nina Cray (11 points, 23 rebounds) helped bring the Vikings to victory.

The Falcons will have a few days to recoup before hosting another NIAC conference opponent SUNY Delhi on Wednesday, January 17 at 5:00 p.m.
