Chae Powers Falcons over Broncos, 65-51

Lynn, Mass. – Freshman Choon-Hee Chae powered the Falcons to their 65-51 NIAC Conference matchup victory with a game-high 18 points.  The Falcons improve to 10-7 on the season with their victory over SUNY Delhi who drop to 11-7.

SUNY Delhi took a quick 4-0 lead over the Falcons, but freshman Tiana Bowser put up four points of her own to knot the game at 4-4.  The Broncos hit a jumper to go up 6-4 over the Falcons, but Madison Carroll netted a 3-pointer to give the Falcons a 7-6 advantage.  Fisher then went on a 14-7 run to secure a 21-13 lead over the Broncos at the end of the first quarter.

The second quarter was an even matchup for the two teams, both putting up 11 points on the board.  Murphy Carroll and Maura Lammers paced the Falcons in the second quarter with 3-points apiece followed by Jocelyn Mendoza and Bowser with two points. 

Fisher held onto their lead heading into halftime up 32-24 over the Broncos. 

Both teams entered the third quarter cold with the first basket made was by Chae, a minute and a half into the quarter.  SUNY Delhi was able to shorten the Falcons lead to 42-36, but Chae hit back-to-back layups to put the Falcons back up by 10-points, 46-36.  Megan Case closed out the third quarter netting a 3-pointer to put Fisher ahead by 11-points 50-39 heading into the fourth quarter.

 The fourth quarter started much slower than the third quarter with it taking three minutes before Lammers hit a shot from behind the arc.  The Falcons added 15-points in the fourth quarter while the Broncos added 12 to finalize the matchup at 65-51.

Camryn McDonald earned a double-double for the Broncos scoring 15 points and 15 rebounds.  Samiaya Salley added 13 points and 8 boards in the loss.

Chae was two rebounds shy of a double-double putting up 18 points and grabbing eight rebounds for the Falcons.  Madison and Murphy Carroll added a combined 23 points and 13 rebounds for the Falcons in their victory.  Lammers added 9 points of her own netting two shots from behind the arc and going .500 from the free throw line.

Fisher will return to action on Sunday, January 21 as they head to Cazenovia, New York to take on Cazenovia College at 1:00 p.m.
