Women’s Basketball Earns Overtime Victory 72-65

Delhi, N.Y -- Fisher College women's basketball faced off against the SUNY Delhi Broncos Sunday, November 12 in Delhi, New York. Having played yesterday against Villa Maria, the Falcons (2-1) face a rested Broncos team (4-0). Can the Falcons put a blemish on the undefeated recorded of the Broncos?

 

At the start of the first quarter Fisher struck first with a layup from Madison Carroll. The Broncos counter back with a score of their own tying the game.  Camryn McDonald made a layup for the Broncos ending the first quarter with the Falcons ahead 12-10. The Falcons still held the lead midway through the second quarter 18-12 as Broncos continue to battle.  The Falcons kept the pressure on the Broncos heading into halftime still holding a 26-20 lead.

 

Fisher started the 3rd quarter with a 5-0 run giving them an 11-point lead against the Broncos 31-20. The Broncos managed to battle their way back, bringing the game within 4-points heading into the 4th quarter 49-45.  The Broncos were able to take the lead with a 54-53 score and only 6 minutes left on the clock. Coming down the stretch of the 4th quarter the Falcons were down 61-60 with 17 seconds left. Jocelyn Mendoza was fouled and headed to the free throw line splitting a pair of free throws binding the game 61-61.  With time expiring, the scored remained tied ultimately forcing and overtime period.

 

Although Delhi took a quick 65-61 lead, Fisher capitalized on an 11-0 run to wrap the game up victoriously against the Broncos 72-65.

 

Fishers' Tiana Bowser lead all scorers with 20 points and 14 rebounds. Choon- Hee Chae added 14 points and 7 rebounds. Madison and Murphy Carroll both chipped in with 13 points apiece. SUNY Delhi's Kiera Holland led the Broncos with 18 points while McDonald added 11 points and 6 rebounds.

 

Fisher will return to action on Wednesday, November 15 as they play host to Ave Maria University (FL) in the Fecteau-Leary Gymnasium at 7:00 p.m
