Carroll Twins Lead Falcons in 102-75 Victory

Lynn, Mass. – Senior twins Madison and Murphy Carroll combined for 48-points in their 102-75 victory over Pine Manor College on Tuesday, January 30.  The Falcons improve their record to 13-8 while the Gators drop to 6-14.

Fisher won the tip and within seconds Murphy Carroll put  two points on the board..  Not even a minute later, Madison Carroll hit a 3-pointer giving the Falcons a 5-0 head start.  Pine Manor hit a jumper to change the score to 5-2.  The Falcons answered by going on an 8 point run leading 13-2.  With 4:24 left in the first quarter, Choon-Hee Chae hit a shot from behind the arc while being fouled.  Chae hit her free throw to put Fisher ahead 22-8.  Fisher added 12-points in the remainder of the quarter to head into the short break up 34-19 over the Gators.

Chae opened the second quarter making a layup within seconds of the clock starting.  Jameela Olivo hit a layup extending the Falcons lead by 20-points, 39-19.  At the 3:23 mark in the second quarter, Madison Carroll nailed a 3-pointer putting Fisher up 30-points, 58-28.  Chae hit another shot from behind the arc to  increase the Gators deficit to 31, 63-32.  The Falcons closed out the first half remaining ahead of the Gators 63-34.

The third quarter opened with the Falcons going on an 8-2 run , extending the lead to 71-36 over Pine Manor.  After 2 made free throws, Olivo gave the Falcons a 36-point advantage , 76-40.  Pine Manor lit a spark after a timeout going on an 11-0 run to cut their deficit to 78-53.  The third quarter closed out still in favor of the Falcons 83-56. 

With the final quarter underway, neither team was ready for time to expire.  Meghan Case made the first shot for the Falcons followed by Olivo to keep the game in favor of Fisher, 87-56.  After Chae hit a 3-pointer, Pine Manor went on a 6-0 run to claw their way back into the game, 90-65.  The last few moment of the game consisted of a close matchup with Fisher scoring 12-points and Pine Manor 10-points to finalize the score at 102-75.

Madison and Murphy Carroll paced the Falcons with 24-points apiece. Madison earned a double-double with her 24 points and 10 assists on the night.  Chae added a double-double of her own with 20 points, 10 rebounds, and 9 assists (one assist shy of a triple-double).  Olivo was another key player for the Falcons adding 13 points and 7 rebounds.

Fisher will return to action on Thursday, February 1 when they head to Cambridge, Mass. to take on the Lynx of Lesley University at 8:00 p.m.
