Falcons Halt Clippers 64-46

Lynn, Mass. – The women's basketball team improved to 15-9 on their season after taking a 64-46 victory from the University of Maine at Machias on Sunday afternoon.  The Clippers drop to 9-15 on the season. 

After a slow start to the matchup, Choon-Hee Chae hit a layup giving the Falcons a 2-0 go ahead.  Chae then added four more points to give the Falcons a 6-0 lead.  Back-to-back 3-pointers by Murphy Carroll and Chae put the Falcons up 12-0 with 4:40 left in the 1st quarter.  Ami Carver of UMM stopped the Falcons complete dominance making a layup and a free throw shot for three total points, 17-3 in Fisher's favor.  Jocelyn Mendoza and Maura Lammers combined for three points closing out the first quarter with the Falcons up 20-3.

UMM struck first in the second quarter to cut Fisher's lead to 22-5.  Back and forth scoring and a rebound by the Clippers forced the visiting coach to call a timeout with the Falcons up 29-7.  The Clippers went on an 11-9 run closing out the first half with Fisher ahead 38-18.

A spark was ignited for the Clippers as they outscored the Falcons in the third quarter 18-9.  UMM opened the quarter with six straight points to cut their deficit to 38-24.  Carver made a jump shot for UMM with 1:40 left in the 3rd quarter cutting the Falcons lead to 10-points, 46-36.

Fisher closed out the game out scoring the Clippers 17-10.  With 8:46 left on the clock, the clippers cut the Falcons lead to 9-point for the first time since the start of the game, 48-39.  Murphy Carroll and Megan Case added seven points to start the Falcons on their route to victory a 55-39.  Madison and Murphy Carroll combined for the final nine points to finalize the Fisher victory 64-46.

Murphy Carroll led all scorers with 20 points including nine points from behind the arc and one rebound.  Madison Carroll added 17 points and 6 rebounds.  Chae (12 points, 5 rebounds), Jameela Olivo (8 points, 13 rebounds), and Case (3 points, 5 rebounds) added offensive edge in the Falcons' victory. 

Caitlyn Lyons paced the way for the Clippers with 13 points and five rebounds.  Linda Riley added 10 points for UMM. 

Fisher will return to action on Tuesday, February 6 when they travel to Chestnut Hill, Mass. to take on the Gators of Pine Manor.  When the two met last week, the Falcons took a 102-75 victory from the Gators.
