Carroll Twins Dominate on Senior Night

Lynn, Mass. – The Fisher College women's basketball team defeated the University of Maine at Fort Kent (UMFK) on Friday evening.  The Falcons improve to 17-9 on the season took the 76-73 victory on senior night.  Seniors Madison and Murphy Carroll dominated on their senior nights with 21 and 20 points respectively.

UMFK started the game with a 3-pointer to give the Bengals a quick 3-0 lead.  Tiana Bowser and Jocelyn Mendoza hit back-to-back jumpers to give the Falcons a 4-3 advantage.  Murphy Carroll hit two free throws to pull the Falcons ahead by three, 6-3.  Bowser made two consecutive layups and a free throw to put Fisher up 11-3.  The Carroll sisters combined for seven points putting Fisher up 18-10.  Jameela Olivo's shot closed out the first quarter giving the Falcons a 20-16 advantage over the Bengals.

Murphy Carroll hit a 3-pointer to open the second quarter and extend the Falcons' lead to 23-16.  UMFK's Savanna Jankowski hit a layup with 7:54 on the clock to cut the visitors deficit to four points, 25-21.  Madison Carroll added to the tally, hitting a 3-pointer to push the Falcons back up by five, 28-23.  Madison Fenner sunk a 3-pointer for the Bengals to knot the game at 28 a piece with 3:55 left in the first half.

Jankowski put the Bengals back on top for the first time since the start of the game with a made free throw, 29-28.  Murphy Carroll hit another shot from behind the arc to put the Falcons back up 31-29.  Fisher closed out the half after a 5-point run, leading 36-33.

The Bengals struck first in the 3rd quarter to come within one point of the Falcons, 36-35.  Choon-Hee Chae and Olivo hit back-to-back shots to take a 40-35 lead.  Murphy Carroll hit two more 3-pointers within a minute and a half putting Fisher up by 10 points, 48-38.  Madison Carroll put the Falcons ahead by 13-points with 2:39 remaining in the quarter making a layup, 55-42.  UMFK hit a jumper to close the quarter with Fisher up by eleven, 55-44.

A quick foul by the Falcons in the 4th quarter send Jankowski to the line cutting the Bengals deficit to nine, 55-46.  The Bengals put their momentum into overdrive and brought their score within six, 67-61.  Kallee Dowler hit two free throw shots to shorten the Falcons lead to four points with just under three minutes left to play in the game, 69-65.  Despite the Bengals relentless offense down the stretch, the Falcons walked away with a 76-73 victory over UMFK.

Senior Madison Carroll led the Falcons with 21 points and 8 rebounds while twin sister Murphy earned a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds.  Bowser (9 points, 9 rebounds) and Mendoza (8 points, 5 rebounds) were key contributors in the Falcons victory.

Jankowski and Bianca Gutierrez led the way for the Bengals with 15 points apiece.  Kallee Dowler added 13 points while Madison Fenner added 12 points in the loss to the Falcons.

The Falcons will have a day off between games before heading to Albany, New York to take on Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences.  Tip-off is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. for the first game of a men's and women's doubleheader.
