The Lady Falcons Soar Over The Eagles For Their Fourth Straight Win

Poultney, VT- The Women's Basketball team are now 4-0 to start the season as they defeated the Green Mountain Eagles (1-1), 72-41 in the NIAC conference opener.  The Falcons played well on both ends of the court, holding their opponents to 26% shooting and forcing 31 Eagles turnovers and added 13 steals, while shooting 40% from the field in the win.  

After Fisher got out to an early 8-2 lead, the Eagles clawed their way back in in the first quarter and had their only lead of the game at 9-8. This didn't last long however, as the Falcons went on a 14-0 run to start the second quarter putting them back on top 22-9 midway through the second.  Vivian Lara (Norwalk, CA) and Kellie Gaston (Tampa, FL) led the scoring in the first half as they combined for 16 of Fisher's 29 points at halftime.  

The Falcons kept the pressure on the Eagles in the second half as they outscored the home team 43-24 and forced 18 turnovers in the last two quarters to seal the victory.  Jenny-Lynn Eggers (Sonoma, CA) paced the offense in the second half as she added 6 points in both the third and fourth quarters, while finishing with 18 points on the night.  Gaston continued to have the hot hand as she added 18 points in the conference win, while Lara tacked on another 15 points and five steals in the victory.

Jocelyn Mendoza (Morgan Hill, CA) led all Falcons with seven rebounds, including four offensive, while Piper Mali (Oro Valley, AZ) dished out seven assist on the night.

The women return home on Sunday afternoon at the Winsor School for a 1pm game against the UMPI Owls.
