Women's Basketball Hangs On For The 49-45 Victory Over Warner College

Lake Wales, FL- The Women's Basketball headed into today's matchup with the Warner College Royals (5-10) on a two-game losing streak, a position they had not been in this season. The Falcons were able to snap the skid this afternoon at the Turner Athletic Center as they defeated the Royals, 49-45 to earn their 10th victory of the season. Fisher played well defensively in the win as they held their opponents to just 21.7% shooting from the floor and held them to just the 45 points, despite their season average of 61.

Fisher got out to an early lead and held on it for the first half as they led 11-7 after the first quarter and extended it to a ten point lead at the half, leading 25-15. Warner came out of the break strong as they outscored Fisher 20-10 in the third quarter, tying it up with just ten minutes left to play. The fourth quarter was a seesaw affair as each team had their share of the lead and were tied heading down the stretch, but ultimately the Falcons were able to pull out the victory, 49-45.

For the second game in a row Vivian Lara (Norwalk, CA) put up 21 points, and added another 11 rebounds for her fourth double-double of the season. Misha O'Neal (Tampa, FL) was the other Falcon to score in double figures as she tallied 10 points of her own on 4-for-9 shooting. Jocelyn Mendoza (Morgan Hill, CA) also had a strong game for her squad as she grabbed nine rebounds and added four assists in the victory. The Royals were led by Daijah Turner who had 15 points and added six steals, while Alana St.Clair added 13 caroms in the losing effort.

The Falcons will have a day off to travel further south to Ave Maria University as they take on the Gyrenes on both Monday and Tuesday with both games slated for 2pm.
