The Lady Falcons Prepare For The Second Ranked Indiana Northwest Redhawks

Boston, MA- The Women's Basketball team just landed yesterday afternoon after their four-game trip to Florida, but they will be right back at it this Friday as they take on Indiana University Northwest. The Redhawks (13-4) are currently tied for second with Haskell in the A.I.I. Conference ratings, just above the Falcons who are ranked fourth. The Falcons are coming off a 1-3 road trip down South, and will be looking to get back on the winning track as they play host to IU both Friday night at 7:30pm and then again on Saturday at 1pm.

Junior guard Vivian Lara (Norwalk, CA) continues to play well for her team as she leads the Falcons in points per game (17.3), rebounds per game (7.4), steals (37), and made 3-pointers (35). She also scored 21 points in back-to-back games in Florida helping her team get the victory over the Warner College Royals. Junior Kellie Gaston (Tampa, FL) is coming off a 12-point performance in the loss to Ave Maria, and is currently averaging 13.9 points per game. Junior Jenny-Lynn Eggers (Sonoma, CA) rounds out the Falcons averaging in double figures as she tallies 10.9 points per game this season. Senior Jocelyn Mendoza (Morgan Hill, CA) and freshman Shaniah Hazard (Providence, RI) are just behind Lara as they both grab 6.7 rebounds per contest. Coach Ford will look to see his team get hot from the floor again as over the last five games the team has averaged just 45 points per game, well shy of their 63 point average over the season.

The Falcons will be going up against the Redhawks who are currently on a 3-game winning streak, and are coming off their most recent win over Holy Cross College on December 28th in which they defeated the Saints 72-56. The Redhawks currently average 70.8 points per game while holding their opponents to 61.2. Fisher will have to slow down the Redhawks top three scorers to secure the victories over the weekend and help improve their in-conference standings. Senior guard Chloe Salman (Paw Paw, MI) leads her team with 16.2 points per game, while 6'1 senior forward Michelle Borgen (Tinley Park, IL) averages 16.1 points per game while dominating the boards with 138 rebounds and 19 blocks in 17 games. Grayce Roach (Hobart, IN) rounds out the top scorers for the Redhawks as she is just behind her teammates on the stat sheet with 15.9 points per game, while leading her team with 79 assists and 31 steals. Junior guard Ashley O'Malley (Crown Point, IN) has played well defensively for her squad as she averages 7.6 rebounds per game and is second on the team in steals with 25.

Fisher has lost just once at home so they will be happy to play host to the Redhawks this weekend, as three of the IU four losses have come on the road. Tip-off is slated for 7:30pm on Friday night and 1:00pm on Saturday afternoon at the Winsor School in Boston, MA.
