Gaston Leads The Falcons To Their 11th Win Of The Season
Chestnut Hill, MA- The Women's Basketball team headed to Pine Manor College (1-10) this evening stuck in a four-game losing streak, the longest of the season. That drought ended tonight on the Brunelli Court in Chestnut Hill, as they defeated the Gators 59-39 for their 11th win of the season.

The contest started out slowly for both teams as neither team scored until the 7:12 mark when Jocelyn Mendoza (Morgan Hill, CA) got the Falcons on the board 2-0. The Falcons extended the lead, 8-4, on back-to-back three's from Kellie Gaston (Tampa, FL) and Vivian Lara (Norwalk, CA). The Gators responded with the next four points to tie the game at 10 a piece with 1:24 left on the clock in the first quarter. Jenny-Lynn Eggers (Sonoma, CA) gave the Falcons the lead right back with a lay-up to go up 12-10 heading into the second stanza.

PMC came out strong in the second quarter as they scored the first five points of the frame to give them their first lead of the game, 15-12, forcing a Falcons time out. The time out was just 30 seconds but it was efficient as the Falcons went on a 8-0 to go up 20-15 with 2:02 remaining before the half. Back-to-back three pointers from Kristen Harris and Oceane Tabbak put the Gators back on top as the two teams would head to the locker room with the Gators up 21-20.

Another Gator three-pointer kick started the Gators offense out of the break as they extended their lead 24-20 to start the third. The Falcons quickly knotted the score at 24-24, but another three from PMC put them right back on top 27-24. A 9-0 Falcons run capped by a Gaston lay-up gave the Falcons their biggest lead of the game thus far going up 33-27, forcing a Gators timeout. Fisher came out of the timeout with a 5-0 run to close out the third with a 38-29 lead. The Falcons continued to pressure the Gators and would outscore them 21-10 in the fourth quarter to seal their 11th victory of the season.

Gaston led all scorers in the win with 26 points, shooting 50% from the floor. Lara had another strong performance for her squad as she tallied 13 points, grabbed nine rebounds and added four steals, four assists, and three blocks in the win. Eggers was one rebound shy of a double-double as she contributed with 11 points and nine boards. Mendoza played defensively as she led the Falcons with 12 rebounds while adding a pair of steals. Arielle Harrell led the Gators with 13 points while Tabbak finished seven points and a team-high 11 rebounds in the losing effort.

The Falcons will head this weekend to New Hampshire Technical Institute in Concord, NH to play in their winter tournament. The Falcons will face-off against the Vermont Tech Knights on Saturday at 3pm.
