Falcons Winning Streak Snapped By The Eastern Oregon Mountaineers

Boston, MA- The Lady Falcons basketball team saw their four game winning streak come to an end on Saturday afternoon as they fell to the visiting Eastern Oregon University Mountaineers, 58-31. With the loss, the Falcons record now stands at 4-2, while EOU improves to 4-2.

The Mountaineers proved why they are the #8 ranked team in the country from the jump, as they held the Falcons to their lowest scoring output of the season, holding them to just 31 points on 12 for 53 shooting (22.6%) over four quarters. The Falcons hung tight with the Mountaineers through the first two quarters, trailing 30-18 at the half. But it was the third quarter that proved to be the difference as EOU outscored the Falcons 17-4 for a 25-point lead heading into the final quarter. The Falcons did hold the visitors to 58 points, the Mountaineers second lowest scoring total of the season, but the Falcons offense could not get much going offensively as the ball did not find the bottom of the net for the home team.

Junior point guard Lauren Allen (Long Beach, CA) led the way for the Falcons, scoring 11 points while adding three rebounds. Senior Vivian Lara contributed with nine points, while Jenny-Lynn Eggers (Sonoma, CA) and Angel Bernardi (Cloverdale, CA) combined for 12 rebounds in the losing effort. The Mountaineers used a balanced attack in the offense, having ten different players tallying a point, with Beverly Slater and Rachel Fielder leading the way with 10 points a piece.

The two teams will go at it again on Sunday afternoon, as they square off at 2:30pm at the Winsor School.
