Women's Basketball: Falcons fall in first game of the season to Dean

BROOKLINE, MASS. – The Fisher College Women's Basketball team kicked off their season this evening with a home contest against Dean College. The Falcons (0-1) fell to the visiting Bulldogs, 93-49 inside the Pappas Gymnasium.

Senior Olivia Hamel (Estes Park, Colo.) finished a block shy of a season-opening triple-double. She finished with 11 points, 24 rebounds and 9 blocks. Fellow senior Ariana Ramos Cardona (Isabella, Puerto Rico) led the way with 15 points and classmate Mayouri Yath (Amherst, Mass.) chipped in with 12 points in the contest.

Dean was guided by the offensive prowess of senior Tori Viau (Johnston, R.I.) as she led all scorers with 29 points. Classmate Alexandria Paquet (Santa Maria, Calif.) registered a 21-point night and freshman Nevaeh Smith (Springfield, Mass.) added 11 points off the bench. Kaesta Sandy collected 11 rebounds to lead the team.

Fisher will make their annual trip to northern Maine this weekend as they battle Maine-Presque Isle on Saturday before taking on Maine-Fort Kent on Sunday. Dean will be home on Saturday in their next scheduled contest, a conference clash with Mitchell College.
