Lady Falcon's Open Season with 7-2 Victory

BOSTON—The Fisher College women's soccer team began the 2015 season on a high note, working a 7-2 win over Wheelock College on Tuesday.

Sophomore forward Julia Schojan (Rochester, New York) netted five second half goals to push the Falcons to victory over the Wildcats.

Fisher senior midfielder Ashley DeSouza (Hazlet, New Jersey) opened the scoring for the day 11:59 minutes in, before setting up a score freshman Amanda Santiago (Saugus, California), pushing the Falcons ahead 2-0.

Wheelock broke the ice just before the half when junior forward Alison DeGloria (Chelmsford, Massachusetts) scored unassisted to cut the deficit to 2-1.

The teams traded blows early in the second half with goals from Schojan and Wheelock defender Marissa Siegel (Howell, New Jersey).

From then on it was the Julia Shojan show. She tallied three unassisted markers and a goal off a pass from sophomore Holly Lesperance (Litchfield, New Hampshire).

Falcon goaltender Paige Ciavarro (Lynnfield, Massachusetts) earned the win with 9 saves, while Wheelock's Madeleine Demers (New Britain, Connecticut) stopped 7 shots in 90 minutes of work. Fisher also edged Wheelock in shots, 24-18 and corner kicks, 8-2.

Fisher returns to action on Friday, September 4 when they travel to New York to face Yeshiva University.
