Falcons Soar Over Hampshire College; 7-2

Medford, Mass. – Fisher College's women's soccer team improved to 3-2 on the season as they took the 7-2 victory from Hampshire College (0-1).

The first half was dominated by the Falcons after Jade Bracero (Hoboken, New Jersey) opened up the scoring at the 1:23 mark to put Fisher up 1-0.  Fisher continued to pressure the Hampshire defense putting up 16 shots in the first half, 25 in total. Amanda Santiago (Saugus, California) scored her first of two goals just after 10 minutes of play; the Falcons led 2-0. 

Julia Schojan (Rochester, New York) with help from Ashley De Sousa (Hazlet, New Jersey) and Santiago netted two more goals for the Falcons to put them up 4-0. Time expired in the first half before the Falcons put another shot in the net, freezing the score at 4-0 in Fisher's favor.

Fisher started the second half right where they left off in the first half, pressuring Hampshire's defense. Schojan took advantage and netted two more goals for the Falcons to give the team a 6-0 lead.  Hampshire didn't give up and after a few nice touches they pushed push a ball passed Paige Ciavarro (Lynnfield, Massachusetts) to cut the Falcons' lead to 6-1. Santiago didn't let Hampshire stop her game as she pushed hard to net her second goal to put the Falcons up 7-1. 

Before time expired, Hampshire managed to squeeze out another goal to cut the score to 7-2 in favor of the Falcons. Three short minutes later, the horn sounded and the game was finalized, with Fisher earning a 7-2 victory.

Ciavarro took the victory in net saving two shots on goal. Lea Sweeney took the loss for Hampshire despite making eight saves.

Fisher will return to action on Saturday, September 18, as they travel take on the Owls of University of Maine-Presque Isle at 12:00 p.m. The team will remain in Maine and take on the Bengals of University of Maine-Fort Kent on Sunday at 12:00 p.m.
