Schojan Dominates in 8-2 Victory of Wheelock

Boston – Junior forward Julia Schojan dominated the field scoring all eight of the Falcons' goals in the 8-2 victory.  Fisher College took on the Wildcats of Wheelock College in an NCAA-NAIA cross-matchup Wednesday afternoon at Hormel Stadium.

With the Falcons still battling with short numbers because of pending eligibility and one down because of an injury suffered in yesterday's game, the team started with only nine players on the field against 11 Wildcats.

In the eighth minute, Schojan received a pass from newcomer Darien Lavino and netted it past the Wheelock goaltender.  Although the Falcons were down two players, they pressured the Wildcats defense and stole the show in the first half.  Sophomore Maya Stephen was pushing the ball up into the Wheelock zone passing it over to the middle of the field to Schojan.  Schojan then crossed over the goalie and put it in the bottom right corner.

The next two goals came in the 27th and the 39th minute of the game to put the Falcons up 4-0 heading into halftime.

Amanda Santiago didn't waste much time pressuring the Wildcats defense again passing the ball up to Schojan who scored her fifth goal of the game with just three and a half minutes in the second half.  Stephen took a shot in the 53rd minute, but it deflected off of the goal and Schojan picked it up dribbling around defenders and scored her sixth goal of the game to give the Falcons a 6-0 lead.

Wildcat senior Alison DeGloria played hard the entire game and shortly after the Falcons sixth goal, DeGloria scored one herself pulling the Falcons' goalie out of the net and making the score 6-1.  Schojan decided that she wasn't done and retaliated with another goal to push the score to 7-1 in Fisher's favor.

Courtney Adams of the Wildcats followed suit of teammate DeGloria and pulled the Fisher goalie out of the net to score a goal in the 65th minute to make it 7-2 with just 25 minutes left in the game.  However, less than ten minutes later, Schojan netted the last and final goal of the game to secure the Falcons victory at 8-2.

Goaltender Paige Ciavarro earned the victory for the Falcons only allowing two goals and making 15 saves with 17 shots on goal.  Dominique DelBene took the loss for the Wildcats allowing eight goals and making seven saves with 15 shots on goal.

The Falcons will take on the Anchormen of Rhode Island College on Saturday, September 3 at 1:00 p.m. at Hormel stadium in Medford, Mass.  They will play the first game of a men's and women's double header for the Falcons.  Wheelock also hits the pitch on Saturday taking on Smith College at Maine Maritime Academy at 4:00 p.m.
