Falcons Close Out Season with a Bang

Medford, Mass. – Fisher College women's soccer team hosted Pine Manor College on Wednesday afternoon as their last game of the season.  The Falcons took the game to double overtime and earned a 3-2 victory over the Gators.

 

Before the game started, the Falcons recognized three seniors who finished up their careers with a victory.

 

Pine Manor College took a quick 1-0 lead over the Falcons in the 6th minute of the game when Marcella Martinez touched in a ball on a cross from Ashley Whiteshield.  The Gators added another goal in the 17th minute after a corner kick was kick into the crowd in front of the net, shuffled around, and kicked in by a Gator player. 

 

Fisher battled with the Pine Manor offense and held them to 2-0 heading into the half. 

 

After the break, Fisher continued to pound the Gator goaltender and were finally successful in the 64th minute after Amanda Santiago crossed to Julia Schojan who knocked the ball past the goalie.  In the 72nd minute, the Falcons knotted the game at 2-2 with a goal from Amanda Santiago.

 

Regulation time expired forcing the first overtime on the evening.  Ten minutes quickly expired without a goal from either time forcing a second overtime.  Schojan scored the game winning goal for the Falcons after just 3:43 into the second overtime (103:43). 

 

Paige Ciavarro earned the victory in net for the Falcons making 10 saves with 12 shots on goal and allowing only 2 goals.  Charley Lutz took the loss in net for the Gators making 12 saves with 15 shots on goal and allowing three goals.
