Women’s Soccer Opens with a Bang

Boston, Mass. -- The Fisher College women's soccer team opened the season with an 11-0 victory over the Wildcats of Wheelock College.  The Falcons jump to 1-0 on the season while Wheelock drops to 0-1.

The Falcons opened up scoring in the 10th minute when Julia Schojan took a pass from Amanda Santiago putting the ball by the goaltender to take a 1-0 lead.  Schojan then scored again on a breakaway just nine minutes later to take a 2-0 lead. 

Rhaelynn Ochoa added to the Falcons lead making it 3-0 with just 27 minutes played.  The next five goals by Holly Lesperance, Schojan, and Darien Lavino came unanswered between the 32nd and the 39th minute.

Time expired in the first half with the Falcons up 8-0 heading into the break.  Fisher took 16 shots on net while Wheelock was only able to get off three shots. 

The second half was still dominated by the Falcons, but Wheelock was able to hold Fisher to only three goals.  Santiago, Schojan, and Delaney McNulty accounted for the last three goals for the Falcons.

Senior goalkeeper Paige Ciavarro earned the shutout in net for the Falcons.  Ciavarro made three saves with four shots on goal. 

Scjpkam accounted for six of Fishers goals in the victory.  Six different Falcons scored in the contest.  Fisher outshot the Falcons 22-4 in the victory on Saturday morning earning their first victory 11-0.

The Falcons are off for a few days before returning to the pitch on Thursday, September 7 at Becker College.  First touch will be at 5:30 p.m. in Worcester, Mass.
