Falcons Drop First Game of Season to Bay Path

LONGMEADOW, Mass.-  Junior forward Megan Mackie (APO, AE) led the way for the Wildcats scoring one goal and three assists enroute to a 4-2 victory over Fisher College today in their home opener at Ryan field in NCAA DIII women's soccer action.

Mackie started the ball rolling for Bay Path netting the first goal off a pass from junior forward Jai Ruiz (Hadley, Mass.) at 22 minutes on the clock.

Fisher would answer the Wildcats at 39:00 minutes off a made penalty kick by senior midfielder Holly Lesperance (Litchfield, N.H.). The score would remain knotted 1-1 heading into the half-time break.

The Wildcats' senior forward Elena Helming (Maplewood, N.J.) would score in the 57th minute off a cross by Mackie. Junior defender Rebekah Herring (Springfield, Mass.) would slide the eventual game winner in past the keeper for a goal.

The Falcons' senior forward Julia Schojan (Rochester, N.Y.) would net Fishers final goal at 79:34 taking down a 1V1. Bay Path's Ruiz would notch the final goal in the 85th minute off a blocked shot by Mackie.

Sophomore goalkeeper Caitlyn Esposito (East Haven, Conn.) garnered the win facing ten shots with eight saves. The Falcons' senior goalie Paige Ciavarro (Lynnfield, Mass.) suffered her first loss facing nine shots with five saves. Bay Path is now 1-2, while Fisher falls to 2-1.
