Seniors Power Falcons Over Clippers

Medford, Mass. -- The Fisher College woemn's soccer team took a huge 4-0 victory from the University of Maine at Machias on Wednesday afternoon.  The Falcons improve to 5-2 while the Clippers drop to 4-5-1 overall after the 4-0 match-up.

The game started off with the Falcons in control, forcing the Clipper defense to work extra hard.  In the 19th minute, Paula Mendes found Julia Schojan who placed the ball in the corner of the net to take a quick 1-0 lead over UMM.  Nine minutes later, senior Holly Lesperance scored to give the Falcons a 2-0 lead.  

Fourty-five minutes quickly expired with the Falcons up 2-0 with 22 shots to Machias' 1 shot.  

After a 15-minute break, both teams hit the pitch for the second half of the match.  Fisher again overpowered the Clippers outshooting them 11-9.  Lesperance scored again in the 57th minute to give the Falcons a 3-0 lead over UMM.  Schojan added the last goal of the game in the 72nd minute giving the Falcons a 4-0 lead. 

UMM did not give up until the final horn blew to finalize the game. 

Senior goalkeeper Paige Ciavarro earned the shutout victory for the Falcons making a total of 8 saves with 8 shots on goal.  Aisling Gemma took the loss for the Clippers making 13 saves with 17 shots on goal.

The Falcons will be back in action on Saturday, October 7 when they travel to Franklin, Mass. to take on Dean College at  1:00 p.m.
