Falcons Protect Nest Against Owls; 4-0

Medford, Mass. – Fisher College women's soccer improves to 10-3 on the season as they take a 4-0 victory from the University of Maine at Presque Isle (UMPI) on Saturday afternoon.  The UMPI Owls drop to 1-11 on the season with the loss.

The first half of the game was led by the Falcons offense, but unfortunately, they could not get a ball to fall just inside the goal line.  The Falcons were close to scoring in the first half with a shot directly at the goalie, the ball deflected behind the goalie, but a stop right at the line kept the Falcons off the board.  Time expired in the first half with the score still 0-0.

After the break, the Falcons came out strong offensively.  In the 57th minute, Schojan took a pass from fellow senior Amanda Santiago placing the ball in the lower left corner of the net to take a 1-0 lead over the Owls.  Five minutes later, Santiago scored a goal of her own on a corner kick from Darien Lavino.  Santiago earned another assist passing the ball up to Delaney McNulty who just got the ball past the goalie for a 3-0 lead for the Falcons.  Senior Holly Lesperance added the last goal of the game in the 83rd minute to seal the 4-0 victory for the Falcons.

Fisher's offense took 41 shots with 22 shots on goal.  Senior goalkeeper Paige Ciavarro earned a shutout victory for the Falcons while making six saves.  Allie Lopez took the loss for the Owls making 18 saves and allowing four goals.

The Falcons will return to action tomorrow, Sunday, October 29 when they play host to the Owls again.  The match will start at 1:00 p.m. with pre-game senior ceremony starting approximately at 12:45.
