McNulty and Mosdale Each Score Four Goals As The Falcons Earn Their First Win Of The Season, 8-1, Over The UMPI Owls

Boston, MA- The women's soccer team earned their first win of the season in convincing fashion, 8-1, over the visiting Univ. of ME-Presque Isle (0-6).  The Falcons (1-2-1) have put up an impressive 22 goals this season, an average of 5+ goals per game, but had yet to get the W until this afternoon on the turf at The Winsor School.  Seniors Delaney McNulty (Northbridge, CA) and Ali Mosdale (Marlborough, CT) each tallied four goals, and a combined 19 points to lead the Falcons to the win.

Fisher got on the board first before the 2-minute mark as Sophomore Will Memeus (Everett, MA) fed Mosdale a pass down the middle and was able to beat the defense and Owls keeper Alexis Levesque (Grand Isle, ME). McNulty made it a quick 2-0 just six minutes later on an unassisted goal as she capitalized on an Owls attempt to clear the ball out of the zone.  The next two goals have become a norm around the pitch for these two players, as each goal was on a Mosdale throw-in that McNulty was able to head into the goal giving the Falcons a 4-0 lead after 18 minutes.  Mosdale and Memeus teamed up for another goal and assist at 27:40 to put Fisher up 5-0 heading into halftime.

The Falcons continued to put on the pressure, despite playing a man down on occasion due to injuries, as the ball was in the offensive zone for the Falcons more than 75% of the game. Goal number six was another 9-10 connection as McNulty fed a pass down the middle through the D and Mosdale sprinted pass the line for a shot to beat the keeper for a 6-0 lead.  Sarah Backholm (Sutton, MA) made her first start of the year and made it count in the 77th minute as she crossed the ball to the foot of McNulty for her 4th of the game making it 7-0.  Mosdale earned her 4th goal of the day on a through pass down the middle from Memeus that she was able to touch home for the score.  Just minutes later the Owls denied Alexandra Colvin (Longmont, CO) her first shutout of the season as Jordi Legassie (Presque Isle, ME) blasted a free kick from the top of the box that was just out of Colvin's reach to put the Owls on the board, 8-1, which is how it ended.

McNulty and Mosdale have now combined for 41 total points this season.  They will look to keep the momentum going as the squad hosts Becker College on Wednesday at Hormel Stadium at 6pm.
