Lady Falcons Succumb To The Soaring Hawks, 3-0

Medford, MA- Coming off the big victory on Sunday against UMPI, the women's soccer team looked to improve their record as they took on the Becker College Hawks (4-2-2).

The Falcons (1-3-1) came out ready to roll as they applied some heavy pressure within the first seven minutes to create an early scoring opportunity. A throw-in from Alison Mosdale (Marlborough, CT) came across the middle and was headed just inches from the post by Delaney McNulty (Northbridge, CA). As the half continued both teams had some quality chances but were swiftly denied by each team's keepers. After holding the Hawks off for 31 minutes, Helena Ortiz (Memphis, TN) sent in a corner kick that was redirected by Shannon Kelly (Bellingham, MA) into the back of the net, which gave the Hawks a one goal lead. Nearing the end of the first half, the Hawks cashed in another with 6:15 left, off a fast break that was initially saved by Alexandra Colvin (Longmont, CO) but then corralled by Helena Ortiz for a tap in goal to put the Hawks up 2-0 at the half.

The Hawks came out flying in the first 13 minutes of the second half when Alyson Eldridge (Dummerstown, VT) finessed her way through the Falcons defense and capitalized on her opportunity by placing her shot in the bottom left corner, putting the Hawks up 3-0. The Falcons responded within the next ten minutes, when McNulty set up Grace Roach (Hutchinson, MN) for a goal, but it was called back due to offsides. As the half continued, both teams brought a valiant effort to the field, but the score remained unchanged and the Hawks soared off with a 3-0 victory.

The Falcons look to bounce back this Sunday, September 29th, as they travel to Maine to face Fort Kent.
