Women's Soccer Falls To An Impressive Bellevue Bruins Team, 7-0

Medford, MA- On a very rainy evening, the Lady Falcons (3-7-1) fell to a very tough Bellevue Bruins (7-2) team, 7-0.  The Bruins are currently in second place in the A.I.I. Conference standings and it showed tonight why they are where they are.

Bellevue jumped on the board in the first two minutes as Maiwat Dar (Omaha, NE) dribbled through traffic down the right side of the field and made a perfect cross to Emily Wayant (Omaha, NE) who was wide open for the shot to net to go up 1-0. The Bruins kept on the pressure and not even in a minute later Kylee Mastromonaco (Papillion, NE) put a hard shot on net where Falcons keeper Alexandra Colvin (Longmont, CO) made the initial stop.  But the wet conditions played a factor as it slipped out of Colvin's hands and creeped over the goal line for the 2-0 lead.  The Falcons played smart defense for the next 24 minutes, as they forced the Bruins offsides 13 times tonight, but it was at the 26:32 mark where Dar and Wayant scored in almost identical fashion, giving the visitors the 3-0 lead where it would remain through halftime.

Less than five minutes out of the break, Wayant would tack on her third goal of the day for the hat trick as she put in a deflected save by Colvin from Mastromonaco's shot to make it 4-0. The Bruins used their speed on the next two goals as Jennifer Romero (Denver, CO) would find open teammates Dar and Rylan Mahoney (Omaha, NE) to give the Bruins a 6-0 lead.  The final goal came from the foot of Emma Phillipson (Omaha, NE) who blasted a free kick out of Colvin's reach in the top left hand corner.

The Falcons had their best opportunity late in the second half when Delaney McNulty (Northbridge, CA) put a terrific cross from the right in front of the net, but Melissa Shoniker (Rochester, NY) was not able to get her foot on it.

Fisher will get a day's rest and will get a rematch with Univ. of ME-Fort Kent this Saturday as they host the Bengals on Homecoming weekend at 4pm.
